Partnering the Canossians in Myanamar to gift mosquitoe nets to needy youths

Dear Frens,

Thank you so much for your contributions and supporting the initiatives by project kyrie.

We managed to buy 380 mosquito nets for 380 Myanmar village children who attended the Canossian's youth camp. The mosquito nets cost $1068.00.

The youth camp is 6-7 hours of bumpy and dusty drive from Yangon.

Mosquito nets were gifted because although the bad floods in the area have receded, stagnant puddles of water will start breeding of mosquitoes. Mosquito nets will prevent children these children from being bitten and reduce the spread of mosquito borne diseases.

Dear Frens,

As Christmas and New Year approach, I start reflecting on blessings given to me by God for the year of 2012. It's a long list! I have enjoyed a year of good food and wine, health for my love ones and a year of peace amongst friends and family.

I am overflowing with blessings and I am sure it's the same with many of you, who have also experienced many great blessings worth rejoicing in 2012.

As we enjoy our Christmas celebrations this year, let's also give a feast to the poor who may not have had a good meal for the whole year. Let us reach out to the homeless and hungry that line the streets and live in shacks along the roads of Gujurat, India.

To be a homeless and hungry adult or child in India, is a suffering that you and I cannot imagine. I am sure it's even beyond our imagination.

This year, Project Kyrie shares with you this wonderful opportunity to reach out to these very poor people that we always hear about, watch on TV but usually impossible to reach.

We have a trusted Singaporean friend, whom we have worked with serving the poor for many years and he is heading to Gujarat to visit his family for several weeks. I  have organised with him to buy packs of food costing $2.00 to $2.50 and to organize some volunteers to distribute this food to the homeless adults and children along the streets.

Receipts and photos will be provided to all who requires it. Photos will be uploaded on facebook as usual.

Those who would like to join me and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas and literally feed the poor , do let me know asap. We will order your food packs of blessings and distribute it for you.

We will be consolidating everybody's contribution up to the 18th of December 2012. Pls note if there are any left over funds we will use to buy necessities for the poor in India eg blankets and groundsheets etc.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
May God bless you all abundantly for your year of generosity to the poor!

God Bless,
Mill

Project Kyrie partners Gloria Patri & Toa Payoh RC to bring Christmas cheer to the elderly and the less privileged \o/\o/\o/

Dear Frens,

Christmas is again round the corner and there is no better time to share our blessings and surround the elderly and children with their families, with Christmas cheer.

Most of us are so blessed. We look forward during this Christmas season to turkeys, Christmas feasts,
get-togethers at restaurants, holidays, Christmas gifts of your heart's desire or just being happy knowing you have provided for your children and seeing them joyful and happy.

This Sunday, we got together and threw a small party for people in our community who treasure these small gatherings because this little effort we put out there is their party, is their get-together, is their time at a restaurant, is the fun for themselves and their children... and most of all, the little effort we put out is  an affirmation that they live amongst people in the community who care for them and want them to be happy.

If you have time, do watch our video :)
If you feel you would like to participate and contribute for future similar events, do let me know. If you wish to do your own and need a consult, feel free to contact us. There is always a reason to celebrate and share what we have!

Special Thanks

To Donors for providing the scrumptious buffet
meal... Conlash, Patrick and Helen for providing
the biscuits and sardines... Ricky for the 150kg of rice...
Henry Wu for providing the goody bags of
chocolates and sweets and for the kids and

We do what we do because we can! - Teaching others how to fish..

Dear Frens,

Having run Project Kyrie since 2004, I have truly enjoyed myself meeting so many nice people out there who really care so much for people who are less privileged than themselves.

They will do many uncomfortable things like waiting in the sun, driving a pick up in the rain, hauling boxes of useful items for the needy, extend their patience beyond their normal limits, ask for a favor from a person they hardly know from their personal network to help people they have never met so that they may enjoy that one good meal or to give that moment of hope to another.

To all these everyday heros, I say a big thank you. There is nothing ordinary about you, for your heart has a beauty beyond words.

We, Project Kyrie believe in teaching people how to fish so those living in poverty may help themselves, their family and their friends for a lifetime. Education is a priority for us and this November 2012, we friends of Project Kyrie have come together yet again and given opportunities to youths from Don Bosco in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to further their educational experiences.

Because you have searched high and low for laptops in your homes, from friends and given generously for this project we have managed to set up a research corner cum a social enterprise internet cafe at Don Bosco Vocational School for the second year students to hone their business skills learnt at school. This will help them tremendously by developing their business acumen and also giving students an internet corner to learn from the world wide web.

We collected 9 laptops, 2 of which are brand new and generously sponsored by Declan Crowe and Arthur Shu.

Many thanks also to Peggy Zee, Henry Yee, Maureen Chan, Susanna Kang, Elizabeth Ho, Bob and Florence Komaran, Frederick Foo, Timothy Wong and to Andy Lim for putting in his efforts to repair the laptops for us.

Last but not least to the very generous and God-empowered couple Daniel and Helena Ong for carrying up the first 4 laptops to Cambodia and in assisting to buy 2 brand new HP laptop at a super price.

Thank you also to Dr John Lee who will assist to carry the balance of the laptops to Phnom Penh in December for us.

Without everybody's effort and plenty of running around, this project would not have been possible.

May our Good God, bless you all abundantly as you have blessed the poor that HE so loves!

God Bless,
Mill

Dear Frens,

Today it is with a happy heart that I bring to you good news that our solar powered study room and playground project in Myanmar has been successfully installed.

This village that has no electricity and now have it because of you! We have successfully brought the light of Christ in more ways than one to the village of Daw Taw Ku, in the Kayah state.

I wish to thank our many friends for their generous contribution for this project. Special thanks to Jackie Joseph, Claire Chua, Joseph Tan, Albert Foo, Paul Raj, Patrick Chan,Dorothy Lim, Declan Crowe, Nicholas Lim, Judy Flemming, Veronica Liu, Susan Lee and Geraldine Lim.

Many many thanks also to Calvin Tay, Mark Foo, Joseph Tan, Michele Fernandez, Jennifer Loo, Jasmine Foo, Audrey Leong, Susanna Kang for providing the winter wear for Daw Taw Ku and another mountain village,

Also thank you to Marilyn Lim & Shaun Chan for giving up their laptops within a day and to Ignatius Quek for carrying some of the winter wear over to Yangon and last but not least to Valerio Rireh, our volunteer for co-ordinating everything on the ground.

It is truly heart warming to see the adults and children alike coming together to build a better future for their own children. We will continue to fine tune our work in this village by customising the study hall to include a pre school centre for the children, build up the library and to make the inside of the hall cleaner and more equipped so it can be respected in the village as a centre of education and growth for their children.

If our funds allow we will also provide a dynamo for generating electricity for community events like weddings, funerals and other festive community activities and also a guitar for ministry.

As some frens may know if they are connected to Project Kyrie's facebook that I have also come back from Myanmar on another mission to the delta region of Pathein. The region is flooded and it is expected that there will be alot of mosquitoes because of stagnant pools of water. We will prioritise the needs but we are intending to provide 200 youths with mosquito nets through the Canossian mission there.

So thank you to everyone, without your quick response we would not be able to put this together so quickly. Thank you for making this happen for the children and community of  Daw Taw Ku. May God bless you and smile upon you and your family for your generosity.

And most of all to God, Our Father to all, for blessing this project and making it all possible!
All Glory to God! \o/ \o/ \o/

God Bless,
Mill

Bringing the light of Christ to a small village in Myanmar

Dear Frens,

I have always been very blessed in my life and I feel very difficult when I meet people who live very hard lives especially when they have not enough to eat or when they have no roof over their heads.

I cannot begin to fathom what it's like to not have a supermarket to pick and eat the huge variety of food I like or to go home to a dusty shack with maybe holes in the roof where cold winds and rain beat down on me when I am asleep.

God has indeed blessed me and my family and many of us with enough, to live a good life. Today, I seek to bring some comfort to a village in Myanmar in the Kayah State, called Daw Tuang Ku village.

It's a village with about about 50 families and it's a village that have no electricity hence no light at night except for candles and kerosine lamps. These light sources are also an expense for these poor families as many can hardly afford to send their kids to school.

As education is almost the only way out of poverty. I have always seeked first to teach the people to fish rather than to give blindly and create a taking mentality.

Here in this village, before us is an abandoned church. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to change this empty building into a building full of hope by converting it into a study hall and a play centre for children so we can attract them to gather, to study and for us to help them in a longer term in other areas of their lives.

We will use new technology and harness God's great gift of light from the sun to power up this building for the night when darkness falls and engulfs the village.

Once the study hall is set up with solar powered lights, children can study and gather at night for more productive activities than to stare into the darkness with empty minds.

We will set up a library, put in a few computers and maybe even a TV for children's educational programmes. I am sure ultimately it will be a study cum community hall for both young and old alike. This 'light' that we can bring to them will surely be able to bestow unlimited blessings into the lives of many. The solar panels will last 10 to 20 years!

Outside this study hall, with funds raised, Project Kyrie will buy wood and the villagers will be tasked to build a playground for their own children. A proper play area where kids can come, play and exercise safely, gather and be helped further.

Frens of project kyrie who would like to join me to nurture the minds and the bodies of these kids who do not even 'light' in this day and age, please do call, text or email me with your contributions.

The fund that we put together today will be called the HALO fund ( Humanitarian Aid & Lifeline Opportunities Fund).  I will personally ensure that we will put the funds into best use and 100% of all monies will reach the poor.

On behalf of these children in Myanmar, I thank you for your generosity. We hope to start asap and have everything completed by and September 2012 before the rainy season sets in.

God Bless,
Mill

Partnering Beyond Services to start guitar classes for under priviledged kids

Dear Frens,
It is so inspirational especially to me when I can see God's hand in providing for the poor through us.

I was thinking when I accepted this project that it would take quite abit of time to find 10 used guitars in order to start a class. It is really good that children find themselves in music as music is not only healing but can also bring beauty into their lives and the troubles they may find themselves in.

God had other plans and when he moves everything falls into place almost in an instant. From the time I sent out my smses to the time all these guitars were bought and gifted it took less than 2 days. What's more beautiful is that every single guitar came with it's own bag, strap, tuner and pick.

We wish to thank Alice Tan for her support in paying for the guitars, June Foo for making the call to connect us with Davis Guitars and Janet and Chris from Davis Guitars who gave us a $160 guitar at a discounted $101.60 and threw in all the guitar accessories.

Without everyone's help, this class and the years of joy that many kids will have, will not have been made possible.

Also many thanks to many other friends of project kyrie who responded as soon as they received our smses. Without you and your kindness to respond to those who have little, we would not have been able to reach out to as many people as we have.

God Bless,

Celebrating a day with the under priviledged \o/\o/\o/

Dear Frens,

What better way of spending your 70th birthday but to be like Jesus and throw a feast for all.

So that's just what Paul Raj did yesterday. On his 70th birthday, he threw a feast for 250 people, guests from the handicapped home, kids from Children's home in JB, poor families from Singapore, the old, the blind, the sick..practically for all who would come.

Paul Raj has been the man on our team, working with Project Kyrie helping the poor and the needy in every which way he can for many years and his efforts for the poor started way before he even joined us to reach out to those who need our help.

Project Kyrie would like to honour him for his life of kindness to others.

We took this wonderful opportunity to bless wonderful people in difficult times with rounds of gifts lucky draw and rounds of NTUC food vouchers giveaways to bring a spark of happiness and excitement to light up their difficult situations for the day.

We would lik to thank all frens of Project Kyrie for participating in this celebration by providing all the lucky draw gifts and food vouchers from NTUC. Thank you also so much for the children's goody bags, the colouring sets and the chocolates!

We managed to put all these gifts together in 2 days before the party as we realised that it's such a gd opportunity for us to share with many who have not as much as many of us. We raised a $1,100 for food vouchers and had 18 gift wrapped lucky draw items that included a microwave, fans, rice cookers, hot water airpots and many more. Special thanks to Mark Foo, Belinda Ang,Theresa Sim, Lynette Yap, Aunt Maria, Peter Twang, Joseph Tan, Geraldine and Geeti Lian, Patrick Chan, Susie Choinh and Chia Yi.

Many Thanks also to Geeti, Augustina and Stella for volunteering their day to administer the lucky draw and to bless the poor with their company!

Last but not least 'All Glory to God' \o/\o/\o/

Partnering Takashimaya to bring fitness to the less priviledged

Dear frens,

We wish to thank Takashimaya and all friends of project kyrie working at Takasimaya who have taken the effort to help the underpriviledged secure wonderful gym equipment to keep them healthy and fit.

We are where we are in our jobs, in our careers,in our lives because we are able to effect decisions and broker assistance to the needy.

Helping our neighbours and fellow men is a lifestyle. With a sense of charity in our hearts at all times, we are open to a new awareness of how so many things can be done to help and make a difference in the lives of others. At the same time, we will also always be in touch with the knowledge that we are so blessed with such abundance in our lives.

Thank you to management of Takashimaya, Jerina and her team for this gift of love.

God Bless,

Setting up a Computer Lab in Kupang, Indonesia for Orphans

Learning is the only way out of poverty..

Dear Frens,

Every bit of effort we do makes a difference to the lives of others who have much less than we do.

Often its a co-ordinated effort of a few parties just like any project we put together at work. It all starts with an idea and then the will of each individual to do their part however small to bring it to fruition.

For Christmas last year, we managed to set up a computer lab for orphans at Rosline Orphanage in Kupang, West Timor.

None of these children at the orphanage would have seen a better life after the strife if not for the bravery of the founders of Rosline Orphanage, Budi and his wife Peggy.

Given an empty room, we suggested a computer lab as it would really benefit the kids as the orphanage could run the laptops with the power generators they had.

Education is a way out of poverty. Laptops that are 'too slow' for affluent Singapore, have now got a new lease of life. It's fantastic that we are able to recycle and benefit others just because we are so blessed that we can.It takes but a small bit of effort and friends of project kyrie have come through again and made this possible.

We would like to thank donors of the 12 laptops and to Holy Family RCIY for takng on this mission to set up the laptops, set up the lab and teach the kids computer skills. They had a great time and it was a good learning experience for both our Singaporean youths and for the children. We are also very grateful to Pat and Elaine for responding to our emails for all the educational CDs and tapes that were given to the children.

And to all friends of project kyrie who kept a look out for all the hardware and software neededand by forwarding emails to their friends to get what is needed to make this project successful. We thank you and the children also thank you.

The next project for the orphanage that we will undertake is to paint some colourful murals in the orphanage to make the place bright, cheerful and full of hope. Anyone who is interested to participate be it to paint or provide the paints, do let us know.

God Bless,
Mill
